national calamity to be avoided if compatible with national honor. –Zachary Taylor

Congratulations to Daniela Olvera, this week’s Student of the Week! Mr. Smith nominated Daniela because she is motivated in all of her classes. Although she is quiet, she is always on task and completing assignments in a timely manner. Daniela sets an example to her classmates by coming into class everyday ready to learn. She is always willing to participate when called upon and makes her best effort in everything she does.

Carly Martin is this week’s Senior of the Week. Mr. Bouwer raves, “Carly has quietly, diligently, and splendidly completed all her work for the Bark. Throughout her time on the newspaper, she stepped up whenever we needed someone to complete a last minute article. Congratulations on graduating early! The Bark will miss you!

Jordan Hoekwater is this week’s Artist of the Week. Mr. Clark selects Jordan because he is a great illustrator, a reliable student, and always willing to help others. Jordan helped design the VHS faculty family tree mural in the office. The mural will be finished before winter break.

Coach Al nominates the whole JV soccer team as this week’s Male Athletes of the Week! He states, being early in the season, relationships, structures, and team chemistry are all still young and being formed. This makes this task difficult to complete. However, what I can confirm is that all these boys (25 in total) are excellent role models and have impressed me with their maturity and demeanor. I am proud of their accomplishments and commitment.
