Renamed the Virgin Islands, this chain consists of St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. John and about fifty other small islands, most of which are uninhabited. Lying about sixty-five kilometers east of Puerto Rico at the end of the Greater Antilles, the U.S. purchased the islands from Denmark for $25 million because of their strategic location in relation to the Panama Canal.

No PAWS Today

This Day in History… An enormous ice dam formed at the source of the Niagara River on the eastern shore of Lake Erie on March 29, 1848. Just after midnight, the thunderous sound of water surging over the great falls at Niagara came to a halt as the flow of water became severely restricted due to the ice jam. The eerie silence persisted throughout the day and into the next evening until the waters of Lake Erie broke through the blockage and resumed their course down the river and over the falls.

Tierra De Herrera is this week's Student of the Week!   Ms. Moe nominates Tierra for her positivity and work ethic which not only make her a fantastic student, but a great role model to her peers! Keep up the great work!

Rashnit Pooni is this week’s Senior of the Week.  Nominated by Mrs. Norris, Razi is the first of her seniors to turn in her research paper, and she is the first of Mrs. Norris’s seniors to earn an A+ on the research paper this year. Great job, Razi!

Track and Field nominates Jaxin Woodward as Female Athlete of the Week! Jaxin has worked very hard in the off season and her commitment to training has resulted in posting one of the fastest times in the section in the 800m already this season.

Frosh Baseball selects Nick Finnegan as the Male Athlete of the week! Nick made two appearances last week throwing 6 innings, giving up 2 hits and not allowing a run.  Nick has also been a model teammate by supporting his teammates, getting himself prepared to play when called upon, putting in extra effort to improve his game, and is willing to take and try any suggestions giving to him.
